When to go · April
Spring wildflowers, Orthodox Easter traditions and ancient sites almost to yourself. What Greece is like in April, and where to go.
The short answer
April on the Peloponnese is mild, with daytime highs around 20 degrees. The hills are green and full of wildflowers, the sites are quiet and the light is clear. The sea is still cold, at roughly 16 degrees, so this is a month for walking and sightseeing more than swimming.
There is some spring rain, but showers are usually short, and the sunny spells are lovely. Easter often falls in April, and it is the biggest festival of the Greek year, with processions, bonfires and lamb on the spit.
We run a small hotel on the east coast, and April is when the trails and the villages are at their most beautiful.
